KVM extenders from IHSE – planned and integrated by controlrooms
In a professional control room, computer hardware does not belong under the operator desk but in an air-conditioned, access-controlled equipment room. KVM extenders make exactly that possible: they physically separate the operator workstation from the computer and transmit video, keyboard, mouse, USB and audio losslessly over Cat-X copper or fibre – from a few metres up to several kilometres.
As a long-standing IHSE system integrator, controlrooms deploys Draco extenders wherever availability counts: less noise and heat at the workstation, physically protected servers, low-latency access and – via optional redundant transmission paths – availability levels up to fully redundant scenarios. Every extender can be operated as a point-to-point link or integrated into a Draco tera KVM matrix. Planning, integration and service come from a single source.
DVI
Draco vario DVI extender (series 474)
Proven modular DVI extender for conventional workstations.

The Draco vario DVI is the reliable all-rounder when monitor, keyboard and mouse are to be separated from the computer without requiring resolutions beyond Full HD. controlrooms uses it where robust, economical and stable long-term 24/7 operation is the priority. Thanks to its modular design, we add USB 2.0, audio or serial channels as required – and integrate it into a Draco tera matrix on request.

Why extenders belong in the control room concept
KVM extenders physically separate the workstation from the computer hardware. This improves security, acoustics, maintainability and climate control in the control room. What matters is that extenders not only work technically, but also suit the way operators work: switching, latency, resolution, redundancy and access concepts have to interact cleanly in 24/7 operation.
Technical background on KVM over IT, system architecture and security can be found in our news and knowledge section.
Where signal formats differ or links need additional components, matching converters and accessories are available.

Frequently asked questions about IHSE KVM extenders
What does a KVM extender do?
A KVM extender transmits keyboard, mouse, video and other signals between the workstation and computer hardware located elsewhere.
Why are computers moved out of the control room?
Relocated computers reduce noise, heat and maintenance effort in the operator area and increase physical security.
Which criteria are decisive for KVM extenders?
Resolution, latency, reliability, redundancy, ease of operation and compatibility with the existing system landscape.
Does controlrooms support migrations?
Yes. Existing systems can be migrated step by step into a modern KVM architecture.
