KVM switches and matrices from IHSE – planned by controlrooms
A KVM switch does not just decouple the workstation from the computer, it distributes sources flexibly to operators: everyone accesses every system without changing seats, and situation displays can be switched in seconds. From the compact desktop switch to the highly scalable matrix with hundreds of ports, controlrooms plans the right architecture – vendor-independent, designed for redundancy and integrated into the overall control room.
KVM switches and matrices form the backbone of many control room workstations. They control which operator accesses which sources, how redundancy is implemented and how systems are operated in an incident. In professional control rooms, it is not about as many ports as possible, but about clear operating logic, secure rights, traceable switching and stable 24/7 availability.
Matrix solutions
Draco tera enterprise (series 480)
Highly scalable modular KVM matrix for large control rooms.

The backbone of large control rooms: a modular matrix in which every port can serve freely as an input or output and all common signals are mixed. controlrooms designs it for redundancy – dual power supplies, hot swap, automatic failover – for uninterrupted 24/7 operation. Instant Switching switches without delay.
- 48–576 ports (freely assignable as I/O)
- DisplayPort/HDMI/DVI/USB 2.0+3.0/audio/RS232-422/SDI
- Cat-X, XV, single-mode fibre, coax
- redundant PSU + controller, Mix&Match
- Instant Switching
Draco tera flex (series 480)
Compact KVM matrix that grows with you.

The flexible sister of the enterprise: compact (1/2/4 U), expandable from 16 to 160 ports, a hybrid of Cat-X and fibre. Several units can be connected via 10G grid to form decentralised systems. controlrooms plans it for medium-sized control rooms and distributed sites that are expected to grow later.
- 16–160 ports
- 1/2/4 U
- Cat-X + fibre (1G/3G), hybrid
- redundant PSU + NICs
- 10G grid networking
- Instant Switching
Desktop solutions
Draco Multiview 4K60 (series MV42)
Up to four sources on one monitor – in 4K.

The multiviewer brings several sources onto one display at the same time: full screen, quad, picture-in-picture, 2+2 or freely arranged. With integrated switch, WebUI and SNMP monitoring. controlrooms uses it at operator positions where several situation displays must stay in view in parallel.
- up to 4 sources (single-head) / 8 (dual-head)
- 4096×2160 @ 60 Hz
- DisplayPort 1.2 / HDMI 2.0
- WebUI, SNMP, 16 profiles, crop/zoom, GPIO/API
Draco U-Switch / Multi-Screen Control (series 476)
Operate several computers with one keyboard and mouse.

The desktop switch with which an operator moves seamlessly between several computers – via hotkey, button or simply by moving the mouse across the monitor border (MSC 2.0). controlrooms recommends it for banking, surveillance and command-and-control workstations. For security reasons, USB 2.0 can be disabled per port.
- up to 4 USB inputs
- MSC 2.0 (mouse across monitors)
- hotkey/button/GPIO
- Instant Switching
- USB 2.0 lock per port
- compatible with all Draco chassis
Draco DisplayPort KVM switch (series DPS41)
Compact desktop switch for up to four PCs in 4K.

A 1 U switch directly at the workstation: one keyboard/mouse controls up to four computers, expandable to up to five video heads. Switching via API, hotkey, mouse movement or GPIO. controlrooms uses it for tidy, high-performance single workstations.
- 4× Mini DP input
- up to 4096×2160 @ 60 Hz
- 1 PC control × 4, up to 5 video heads
- USB 2.0, audio (digitally embedded/analogue)
- 1 U, hot swap
Software
Tera Web Control (series 480-TWC)
Browser-based management for Draco tera matrices.

The software layer above the matrix: a graphical layout editor that requires no programming skills, intuitive switching via presets, access rights taken directly from the matrix configuration – all in the browser, from any device. controlrooms sets it up for control rooms, security centres and multi-console workstations.
- browser-based (Chrome/Edge/Safari)
- graphical layout editor
- presets + access control
- for tera flex/enterprise (Rev. 1+, FW 5.04+)
- licence per active session
For mixed signal environments with different formats and connector types, converters and accessories complement the matrix.

Frequently asked questions about KVM switches and matrices from IHSE
What is the difference between a KVM switch and a KVM matrix?
A switch connects a few sources and workstations. A matrix organises many sources, users and permissions centrally.
Why is operating logic so important?
Operators must work quickly and without errors in an incident. Poor switching logic costs time and creates risk.
Can a KVM matrix be built with redundancy?
Yes. Redundancy can be planned at signal, network, device and operating level.
What role does controlrooms take on?
controlrooms plans the architecture, integrates the components and aligns KVM, video wall, workstations and service with each other.
